What you need to know about your ICBC claim

How to get your kinesiology sessions covered under your ICBC claim.

In this post I'll be explaining a little bit about how you are able access active rehabilitation under your ICBC claim.

Navigating an ICBC claim and injury is stressful. How do you get started? What do you do if your claims specialist doesn't get back to you? What does direct billing mean?

If you have been in a motor vehicle accident in British Columbia you are pre-approved 12 active rehabilitation sessions from ICBC with a practicing kinesiologist. These sessions are only valid within the first 12 weeks of your accident date, and then they expire. Don't worry if you don't get to them within the 12 weeks. All you need to do is go to your doctor and ask for a referral for "active rehabilitation" and your kinesiologist can take if from there (usually).

The reason I say "usually" is because some kinesiologists will take that referral and contact your claims specialist on your behalf. Some kinesiologists will have you do this yourself. Some kinesiologists will direct bill ICBC on your behalf. Some kinesiologists will have you pay up front and then keep your receipts to submit to ICBC at the end of your claim. It all depends on who you choose to go with for your recovery.

Overall, if you still have your ICBC claim open (or only Part 7) you have access to sessions with a kinesiologist.
