What does a muscle even look like?

Well first off, you have tendons, ligaments, bones, and muscle.

Then, there are three types of muscle. Smooth muscle, cardiac muscle. and skeletal muscle.

Skeletal muscle is what you think of as your “typical muscle”.

Let’s take a closer look at a muscle cell.

Now, when you perform resistance exercises you tear your muscle fibres (see above). During rest (sleep, rest days, etc) your muscle fibres then repair themselves. Proper nutrition also plays a role in this part of muscle building. This is why it’s so important to not only spend the ~1 hour in the gym (with myself, or on your own), but you ALSO need to focus on what you are doing the other 23 hours of the day.

Make sure you are maximizing the results from your workout!
